Interpretive
The most important thing I learned from my experience with mentorship came from my time spent at Duncan Studio in Pasadena over the summer. I was surrounded by and even had the chance to meet the entire animation crew, who then allowed me to witness the complete process of character design for animation, from pencil to computer. I did not realize that there were various artists that specialize in the various stages of the development process, much like an assembly line. One of the most interesting things I was able to see were the model sheets for certain characters, such as Kung Fu Panda and Minnie Mouse. These observations inspired what would later become my second answer to my EQ, which were Model sheets and Concept art.
Applied
The Animation Team at Duncan Studio helped me understand that the most important method of character construction was “knowing your character.” This basically means understanding your character from the inside out, knowing how the act and feel. They shared with me how the emotions and personality of a character dictate their physical appearance and design concepts. This is why I believe my 3P’s is the best answer to my EQ.

Random Post 3
During the school year, I think it was exciting to do the short presentations to prepare for the two-hour one. I loved the 30 minute presentation (I bombed the 10 minute one, but back then I did not even know what I was doing and did not have a solid topic). In the 30 minute presentation, I was confident and excited when I spoke, you would never have been able to tell how nervous I was!! Also, it was fun!! I even got to show off my flashy powerppint, with all the little animation sequences and my own characters.

Over the summer, I finally got my mentorship hours. That is because one of the animation studios I had called called me back! It was a studio called Duncan Studio, and they were located in Pasadena. It was the first time I got to see a real animation studio! It was amazing. I received tons of answers to my questions I had for senior project as well as personal ones, as I want to be in the animation field once I get a job.

When I first searched for mentorship hours, I had researched 10 animation studios, all in LA county, whom I thought I could probably use during the summer. Unfortunately, Pretty much every one of them turned me down. I was worried I wasn't going to be able tpo find mentorship before summer ended.

When I arrived at Las Palmas, Ms. Clauss had me check school work for her students, followed by spelling tests. After class, I followed her to the computer room where I entered grades into the computer for her. Finally, ended the day with stapling homework passes to tests for students that got good grades.

(626) 396-2347 At the start of class, I helped bring all the chairs down. Photocopied several worksheets to pass on to the students. Passed out Styrofoam cups and scissors. Observed as the instructor demonstrated to the students how to cut up the cups and used the Styrofoam to make abstract sculptures. At the end of the class, I helped pack everything for the instructor. 22 hours
